For as long as she can remember, Ruby has moved through the world with deep admiration for the objects, stories, and the people that surround her. To her, everything truly carries so much meaning. 

Before starting her business in 2023, Ruby studied chemistry and nutrition in college, learning all about chemical bonding and the invisible processes that shape the world around us. For Ruby, everything is connected and her background in science continues to influence the way she’s curated this world. In a way, Orchard’s signature sublimation process is a kind of magic. Part art, part science experiment, all love letter. 

As a queer artist, Ruby created Orchard as a way to express her nostalgia and sentimental feelings and is deeply inspired by trips with her family to the apple orchards of upstate NY. Using a growing archive of her own photography, poetry, and illustrations, she began creating pieces that felt less like clothing and more like scrapbooks one could wear. 

Orchard is a colorful collage of all of Ruby’s passions: fashion, art, community, and science. Through clothing, jewelry, workshops, and events, she creates chances for people to make things with their hands, connect with one another, and get in touch with their sentimental side.
